Element of Crime have been playing their songs for almost 40 years. And they have been releasing their records just as they envisioned them, one after the other. There is hardly anything comparable, no other German-speaking band that brings this peculiar mixture of folk rock and blues, art rock and children’s song, noise orgy and schmalz melody into the world without – as it seems – even thinking for a moment about whether it fits in with the zeitgeist or not, whether anyone understands it, whether they themselves understand it at all, whether it is sad or funny, ugly or beautiful, profound or crazy.
