A festival sings!
Together for peace and unity – with drone show
This will be a goosebump moment! On the opening weekend, the festival pauses to raise our voices together. Everyone joins in the songs for peace and a world worth living in. What better way to symbolize the motto of the Tollwood Summer Festival than with this unique community choir? Our symbol for Zusammen:Halt! (The motto of the Tollwood Summer Festival 2024 is “Zusammen:Halt!”. This phrase translates literally as “Together:Stop!”; however, in German it has a double meaning, and implies “stick together.”)
We are the choir
Under the direction of Jens Junker from the “Go Sing Choir” and together with the “Hippie-Kammerorchester”, tens of thousands of voices will unite in the Olympic Park to create a powerful sound. When they sing “Give Peace a Chance” by John Lennon and “Let the Sunshine in” from the musical “Hair”, they will infect everyone with this energy. The magic of music wafts across the festival as everyone spreads a message of unity and hope. There is no one stage or one special star here. The whole festival is the stage, and we all become one choir. From all the beer gardens, from all the tents, at the market and food stalls, from the hill behind the Andechs tent and on the paths, it resounds simultaneously. Drones transform the chorus of thousands of people into a story. The flying objects paint glowing symbols on the firmament. Music and staging combine to create a unique experience that opens the Tollwood Summer Festival: Zusammen:Halt!
Jens Junker (choirmaster, director) and Ian Chapman (composer, musician) from GOSING CHOIR lead the community choir. The Hippie-Kammerorchester with Ruth and Hans von Chelius and Julia von Miller accompany the community choir musically. DroneDreams uses a variety of high-tech LED drones in a sophisticated choreography to create gigantic images on the biggest screen there is: the night sky.
