In PÉPLUM, the renowned French group La Salamandre takes the audience on a powerful, sensual and poetic journey through different ages and eras of humanity. From antiquity to modernity, from baroque to tribal life – expressively told with the power of fire, dance and artistry.

Shooting stars and raining sparks

The artists impress with a perfectly choreographed show in five acts. Unusual characters are born from fine flames that come together to form a tribe through the unifying element of fire. They dance a powerful ritual, light up the sky with their flaming spears. They wage war, set the earth on fire and trigger a blazing tsunami. And finally they make peace, make the sun rise, illuminate circles of light. Fireballs light up the night, become shooting stars before the sky ignites into a shower of sparks in the grand finale. A stunning show that depicts humanity’s struggle to find the meaning of life and transports the audience into a fascinating world.

La Salamandre was founded in Besançon in 1990: A dozen friends passionate about music, dance and circus came together at that time. Initially inspired by street arts, they gradually trained in various disciplines such as martial arts, dance and acrobatics, and from this – in combination with music and fire – created their very own artistic identity.
