The sound of Harry Blank and Andreas Weinek (together: BlankWeinek) is a combination of Styrian-Bavarian folk and chanson. They themselves claim to have invented the musical genre of “Bavarian chanson”. In fact, on their debut album “Dahoam”, which was released in 2017, there are songs and sombre ballads that take the direction of the French model.
The two musical masterminds do not shy away from introducing other stylistic devices into their songs. Sometimes they mix in Bavarian folk or a dash of country. The instrumentation is also varied: violin, accordion, double bass and acoustic guitar come together.
The two musicians make fun of the Bavarian “Mia san Mia” feeling with a good dose of irony.
