“Alice on the Run”
The legendary German action theatre group Titanick from Münster and Leipzig brings Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” to the present. And the compagny reads the fable politically without taking the magic out of it. “Alice on the Run” is a spectacular open-air production that describes Carroll’s stories as a world full of crazy characters. Alice’s journey through strange places and situations is a metaphor for all those who have to find a new home in times of war, famine or political and religious persecution. Alice House is suddenly torn apart, her friend the rabbit disappears. Alice loses her home, her home is only a fleeting place. On her journey she meets the most important personnel of the original, from the rabbit to the good and bad queen. Then, Alice is sent on her odyssey and search for a new place, which she can call her home, also through a newly invented colorful and bizarre world, which can only be conjured up in this theater form – Alice in “Kafkaland”. The audience is always right in the middle of the action and thus becomes part of the great movement that Alice will continue to flee or finally make arrive. The Theater Titanick is one of the most important open-air theater companies in Europe and has traveled the world with its visually stunning square productions. Last winter, “Alice on the Run” celebrated great success on a South American tour.
