BlankWeinek
BlankWeinek invented the Bavarian chanson, the band confidently asserts. But what is a Bavarian chanson? Anyone who thinks of the French model is wrong. Although there are a few songs on the album “Dahoam” that definitely go in this direction, like the ballad “Aufgwacht” or the dark “Die Nacht”. “We tell stories”, says musical mastermind Andreas Weinek. “That’s what connects us with the chanson. However, they also add other stylistic elements. Bavarian Folk or a dash of country, for example. Even Balkan sounds can be found, for example in “Ostwind”, and then there is the eternal theme of home. “We don’t want to leave the much-used term to the wrong people. To those who pervert it for exclusion up to racism. We sing against it”. That’s why the Bavarian “Mia san mia” feeling is being taken for a ride. Or the love of Bavarian beer in the song “A Hoibe”. But always with a good dash of irony.
